Once you're past the climb from the Mersey Forest Road car park (rising around 500 vertical metres in just over 3km), the track undulates for a further 3km or so as it winds its way through a series of picturesque tarns, known as Solomon's Jewels, before reaching the Wild Dog Creek campsite just below Herod's Gate. There are limited facilities and the park is remote and accessible only on foot. I had the good fortune to have clear and crisp weather when I was there, with a light dusting of snow, but as always, you need to be pepared for the worst, weather-wise. But the Walls of Jerusalem NP is one of the jewels of Tasmania, and wonders await if you make the trip ...

Shot on a Nikon D700 and an AF 17-35mm f2.8 lens at 22mm.
