With the Gornergletscher submerged in the mist between the two peaks. My brother, who is a keen skier, was astonished when we told him we were going to Zermatt but not to ski. Having now been there, I can easily see why it is regarded as something akin to skiers' heaven. However, neither my wife nor I ski. In fact, my attempts at skiing in the past have usually ended up with me sliding down the mountain, with my face in the snow. So, why Zermatt, then ? I'd never been to Switzerland, and we wanted to find somewhere picturesque in the Alps to spend some time together before Christmas. And let me say, both Zermatt and Gornergrat delivered in spades on stunning scenery.

Shot on Fuji Velvia ISO 50 using a Nikon F5 and an AF 80-200mm f2.8 lens at 105mm.
