At 3,883 metres, the peak of the Klein Matterhorn is the highest on land I've ever been above sea level. The scenery is truly stunning: it feels as though the whole of the Alps are laid out before you. On a clear day there are something like 40 peaks over 4,000 metres visible. And the cable car - which is a remarkable feat of engineering - makes it ridiculously easy. Oh and of course if you're a skier, you can ski down into Italy, or all the way back down into Zermatt. So whichever way you look at it, it's pretty well a must-do.

Shot on Fuji Velvia ISO 50 using a Nikon F5 and an AF 60mm f2.8 lens.
